Trusting God - 14 June 2020

This week we are thinking about the peace we can have through trusting God.

This week’s link:        https://youtu.be/ZTJanSiZUCE

This is the prayer of Saint Francis that is mentioned in the video.
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is despair, hope;
and where there is sadness, joy.
Divine Master, grant that I may seek
not so much to be consoled as to console,
to be understood, as to understand,
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Here are the words to the song that has been written from this prayer:

Make Me a Channel of Your Peace   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWOJitehcZk

Make me a channel of Your peace.
Where there is hatred let me bring Your love;
where there is injury, Your pardon, Lord;
and where there’s doubt, true faith in You.

Oh, Master, grant that I may never seek
so much to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved, as to love with all my soul.

Make me a channel of Your peace.
Where there’s despair in life let me bring hope;
where there is darkness, only light;
and where there’s sadness, ever joy.

Oh, Master, grant that I may never seek….

Make me a channel of Your peace.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
in giving to all men that we receive;
and in dying that we’re born to eternal life.

About St Francis of Assisi (Italy)

Born: Around 1181 – we don’t know exactly.

Background:  Wealthy, fun loving, adventurous.

Moment of truth:  He sensed God asking him to rebuild his ruined church, and took that to mean the tumble-down building he was in.  he ended up building up the Church of God.

Best Bible Reference:  Today’s reading: Mathew 10:9-10

Life Style:  Very simple and basic.  he and his group of ‘brothers’ walked about listening, loving, preaching, helping.

Food: Begging-bowl contents.

State of Mind and Spirit:  Full of joy and humility, love and hope.
